The Castle and Park -
Major Functions
Knepp Castle - designed
by John Nash, the architect of the Brighton
Pavilion - overlooks a stunning, expansive
lake at the heart of the 3,500 acre Knepp
Estate.
The Castle is set in a 700 acre park
now frequented by free-ranging fallow deer,
Exmoor ponies, longhorn cattle and Tamworth
pigs.
While the Castle itself,
as a family home, is not available for hire,
it is often used as the scenic backdrop for
large occasions such as polo events, charity
functions, craft fairs and company fun days
held in and around the park.
Rates vary and are by
negotiation through the Estate Office (01403
741235).
Polo & Events
Knepp Castle Polo Club
provides a superb venue for corporate
entertaining.
It is often used by companies looking
for novel ways to thank staff and their
families for their contribution to the
success of a company, or to mark a
prestigious point in the company’s
development such as an anniversary, office
opening or a large contract confirmation.
A Family Fun Day is
perfect for this kind of occasion and all
sorts of additional features can be provided
as side-attractions to the main event of a
sponsored polo match, including activities
to keep children amused and entertained.
Bookings can be made
through the Knepp Castle Polo Club
Secretary, Karen Pearson 01403 741007, or
take the link to their website. www.kneppcastlepoloclub.co.uk
Walled Garden -
Weddings & Parties
The extensive old walled
garden next to the Castle is available for
private functions.
There is plenty of room for pitching
the largest of marquees.
Rates vary depending on numbers etc
and inquiries can be made through the Estate
Office (01403 741235).
The Walled Garden has
proved a particularly popular venue for
weddings since the site is sheltered from
the wind yet attracts the sun throughout the
day, there is plenty of adjacent parking,
and it has the added advantage of containing
guests - as opposed to an open park setting
where guests are prone to wander off!
Helicopters can land in
the park, very close to the walled garden.
The Bothy -
Management Training Days, Conferences &
Meetings
Originally a Victorian
cow shed and later a shoot lunch hut, the
Bothy sits in woods in the heart of the Deer
Park overlooking Springwood Pond.
In 2001, this woodland
building became available as a training
centre, conference facility & meeting
room for groups of up to 40 (or more with a
marquee). It has a main room and three
break-out rooms plus kitchen fitted to the
highest catering standards and a set of four
WCs.
The Bothy is a wonderful
venue for any company seeking something more
adventurous and out of the ordinary. Deer, pigs, longhorn cattle and ponies wander freely in this
part of the park and the Bothy’s secluded
location, in the heart of a wood, provides a
unique and enjoyable atmosphere.
We
can assist with local caterers and any other
requirements. The adjacent Springwood
Pond can be used for water and other
activities in conjunction with the Bothy,
& both are available to hire on a daily
basis through the Estate Office (01403
741235).
